Another earthquake here in Southern California....scared me a bit. At first, I felt the walls rattling. I thought that the neighbors were jumping on the walls. A second later I realized that it was a quake and ran outside. All of the neighbors were outside wondering what to do. We waited about 10 minutes and then went back in the house.

Watching the news and looking on the web, we found out that it was a 5.0. A bit scary, but an interesting evening now comes to a close.

.....hope there are no aftershocks!

As I woke up this morning I smelt fires burning outside. The fire started in Corona near Green River Drive off of the 91 freeway. There are also 2 other big fires burning in southern California.

There are ashes that are flying all over the city. My whole patio is almost layered in ash. It almost looks like snow that is hitting the ground.

Hot weather and strong winds are not helping the firemen put out the fires.

A few of my friends have had to evacuate there houses and sleep in other places. I am very worried about them and I hope that their houses will be able to be saved. I also pray that everyone has made it out of their houses safely and that no one is hurt during this time. :(

The Santa Ana winds are back in California and that means, yes again, the fires have also returned. As I walked outside last Friday I could smell smoke in the air from the fire that has been burning in the San Diego area. We will just pray that the winds die down and the firemen are soon able to extinguish the fires.
Here are some photos that I found on yahoo if you would like to take a look at them:

One of the most devastating train crashes in the history of California has occurred leaving 25 people dead and 135 people injured. 40 of the injured people are critical.

The trains hit head on and one of them was a commuter train with 225 people. Authorities say that the driver of one of the trains was possibly sending text messages to his friend and went through a red light.

Here is a video which shows and explains more about the incident:

Yesterday was the first day that California's new cell phone law was enforced. The law says that drivers are prohibited from talking on their cell phone and holding the phone to their ear while driving. Drivers are allowed to buy a small hands-free device that attaches to the ear and talk on that while driving.
