A huge cat has been found. This cat weighs 44 pounds! That is more than my son weighs! I can't even imagine the size of this animal. Here is a video from CNN so you can see the cat that has been found.

Gas prices are very high, but this can't be just a bad thing. During the first 5 months of the year the death rate has dropped 9 percent.
The cost of gas is making more people stay home and only drive when necessary.
This may be bad for the economy, but good because less people are driving and less people are dying on the road.

Jenessa Lewis, was planning to leave her husband. She joined the army last year to try to get away from him. Last week he kidnapped her and drove her from El Paso to Nevada. He beat her and stabbed her twice leaving her bleeding very badly.

Her family had no idea where she was and they were very excited to receive a phone call from police saying that they had found her. Although she is severely injured, she is alive and will return home.

There was some bad news for Google and Microsoft this morning. The stocks of the giant companies are falling.

Google now is at $490.50, this morning it fell 8 percent ($42.94). This was the biggest drop for Google since the first of February.

Microsof also dropped and now is at $26.08. It fell 5.2 percent ($1.44).

Not good news for these enormous companies.

37 people were injured yesterday in Iowa when some fireworks made a fireball and went straight into a crowd on the 4th of July. This should be a day for celebration of independence for the United States. 37 people spent the night in the hospital with mostly minor injuries.

Yesterday was the first day that California's new cell phone law was enforced. The law says that drivers are prohibited from talking on their cell phone and holding the phone to their ear while driving. Drivers are allowed to buy a small hands-free device that attaches to the ear and talk on that while driving.

Scientists have found a new way to communicate with chimpanzees using a screen with 350 lexigrams. The apes can press them in order to communicate with people. They have learned to be able to understand some English and to answer appropriately in return.
