1) Go the extra mile – to do more than what is expected of you.
Example: Megan is a very hard worker and always goes the extra mile at the office.
2) In hot water – to be in trouble.
Example: You will be in hot water when you get home after your mom sees your bad grades.
3) To beat around the bush – to not be precise when talking; to not say exactly what you need or want.
Example: Stop beating around the bush; just tell me what you want to say!
4) Feel blue – to feel depressed or sad.
Example: Don’t feel blue, everything will be okay tomorrow.
5) To be broke – to not have money.
Example: I am so broke that I can’t even buy the food that I need for the party.
