Scientists have found a new way to communicate with chimpanzees using a screen with 350 lexigrams. The apes can press them in order to communicate with people. They have learned to be able to understand some English and to answer appropriately in return.

National Dump the Pump Day

June 19th was national Dump the Pump day. The community is encouraging its citizens to not drive their vehicles and instead to take public transportation. The price of gas continues to rise and there seems to be no stop to the increase. The Orange County Transportation Authority, also known as OCTA, has offered a week of free 1 day passes to anyone who prints out a coupon on their website. This is a great way to encourage people to not use so much gas and save on natural resources.

Famous Reporter Dies

A famous news reporter, Tim Russert, passed away. Almost everyone in the United States is familiar with his face. He had a show called "Meet the Press". Many people are very sad to see him go.

Snake Wrapped Around a 7 Month Old Baby's Leg

On Wednesday in Brentwood, New York, a mother heard her 7 month old baby crying. She went into the room and picked up the baby from her crib. A California King snake fell from the baby's leg. The baby stopped crying and was not harmed. Luckily the snake not venomous.

The family did not know where the snake came from but they took the snake out of the crib and put it in a bucket until Animal Control arrived.
